This class offers an overview in the basic 5S system (Sort,
Set-in-Order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain).
Participants will become familiar with:

The difference in workplace appearance and
functionality before and after the 5S process has been applied.

How to conduct an in-depth
audit of workplace organization and standardization.

How to organize
a workplace by applying the concepts of sort, set-in order and
shine.

How to
standardize procedures to maintain and control an organized
workplace using visual controls.

How to describe how 5S can help to improve workplace environmental
health and safety.
Participants apply each “S” to a simulated factory and measure the
results of their efforts. There are photographed case studies of
applications in different companies. It will make use of several
important 5S tools (e.g. worksheets) for use in the participants’
own facility.
