Value Stream Mapping
Description: Participants will receive an overview of Value Stream Mapping and learn how principles can be applied to a specified product family in the company.
This course has two parts: a one-day introduction and a three-day in-depth program. It familiarizes participants with gathering the data required to eliminate non-value adding waste and how to use that information to implement Lean activities. Participants will learn how to create a current state value stream map from customer to raw material and develop a future state vision to act as a blueprint for lean activities.
Prerequisites: Principles of Lean Manufacturing with Live Simulation or equivalent / Introduction to Value Stream Mapping.
Goals: The effect to the company will be calculated after a Value Stream Mapping Kaizen is conducted. We expect that when implemented, the plan will result in a significant reduction in lead times, inventory, and floor space, and an increase in productivity.
Suggested Participants: Production and Support Personnel representing a cross-section of the organization (Sales, Engineering, Scheduling, Purchasing, and Quality).
Class Size: Up to 20, minimum of 8.
